Is Claude in Amazon Bedrock (AWS GovCloud) FedRAMP authorized? Can I use it with CUI?
Can I use it with CUI?
Yes, with conditions
Claude models such as Claude 5.5 Sonnet, Opus and Haiku appear in AWS's GovCloud FedRAMP Class D column, so FedRAMP High workloads are supported. For DoD Impact Levels the sources disagree: Anthropic says IL5 is included, but AWS's per-model IL4/IL5 column lists no Claude models today.

Notes
Check AWS's model page for the exact model version you plan to use. Anthropic recommends this path for ITAR data. Defense contractors should also weigh the DoW exclusion of Claude under 41 U.S.C. 4713, upheld by the D.C. Circuit on September 25, 2026, described on the Claude for Government page.
Not legal advice. A CUI answer here describes what public authorization records say, not whether your specific contract, data or configuration is compliant. Confirm with your contracting officer, assessor or counsel.
